Springs at a glance
Springs property: A profile of Springs property from a prospective buyer’s perspective, with information on facilities, attractions and where to buy in Springs.
Springs Property
Springs is an important industrial centre located 50 km east of Johannesburg on the East Rand. Once a significant coal mining centre largely inhabited by Welsh coal miners, the tiny village grew into one of the largest single gold producing areas in the world, with no less than eight mines operational in the 1930’s.
Springs has re-invented itself as one of the predominant industrial, engineering and manufacturing hubs in the country.
A daily commuter rail service operated by Metrorail connects Johannesburg’s central railway station, Park Station, with Springs, whilst the N17 highway provides convenient access to the Johannesburg CBD.
Springs has all the infrastructure, services and facilities associated with a growing town, including excellent public and private schools, world class hospitals and clinics and good sports facilities and stadiums. The Springs Technical College provides access to tertiary qualifications.
Springs Attractions
Residents of Springs properties are able to relax and enjoy the great outdoors at the Boksburg Lake, the Marievale Bird Sanctuary- home to almost 300 bird species which frequent the protected wetland area - and the Suikersbosrand Nature Reserve - 134 km² of pristine wilderness situated only 30 minutes away from the city.
The Springs, Pollack Park and State Mines Golf Clubs provide additional recreational facilities for Springs property owners.
Why Buy in Springs?
Springs properties present affordable, value for money investment opportunities. Many of the original bungalow style mining houses have been restored and renovated, creating a highly desirable niche market.
